Giorgio Mariani graduated in Structural Engineering from the University of Pisa in February 2001. Starting in January 2002, he attended the PhD Course in Structural Engineering at the University of Pisa for three years under the guidance of Professor Mauro Sassu. During this period, he carried out tutoring activities within the Course in Structural Mechanics held by Professor F. Cafarella, which provided him with the opportunity to engage deeply with theoretical mechanics. Some of the results obtained from this research form the basis of the paper presented on this site.
He continued to carry out tutoring activities at the University of Pisa within the Structural Design (Tecnica delle Costruzioni) Course run by Professor M. Sassu until approximately 2020, concluding the collaboration upon the final closure of the course, which the Professor had continued to hold even after his partial relocation to the University of Cagliari in 2016. Today, he works as a professional Structural Engineer in Lucca as a partner in the firm RIMA.
